There are 3 levels of existence:
1) the physical – material (hylic according to traditions). Human beings on this level only are called captives.
2) the psychic – personal. Human beings on this level are called
3) the spiritual – impersonal (pneumatic according to tradition). Human beings who have reached this level are called initiates. We are all destined to reach this level.
These levels are different in nature, not in degree. There is as much difference between the physical and the psychic, as between the psychic and the spiritual.
But the spiritual level is difficult to grasp. Just as the psychic can be apprehended by the physical (for example, through psychosomatics, through the physical symptom used to diagnose the psychological state…), the spiritual level can be perceived by the psychic: this is the psycho-spiritual.
Knowledge of psychology, and psychodiagnosis in general, can in turn serve as a basis for understanding the spiritual being.
