Matter therefore has great utility for our spiritual evolution. Not being material beings wanting to have a spiritual experience, but rather spiritual beings having to undergo an experience of matter, we must be involved in it while freeing ourselves from it…
The intensity of the material experience is must be intense enough to affect the psyche and reach the soul, therefore leading us to change internally, to metamorphose us. But if this intensity is too strong, without a dimension superior to it, matter overwhelms us: pleasure or suffering block us and push us even further into the spectacle of earthly illusions. The initiatory dimension is then missed: beings remain attached to pleasure or blocked by fear. Imprisonment continues, and any possibility of release recedes. Maintaining this balance between involvement and liberation, between investment and detachment is very difficult, because this crest line is narrow and unstable. Every moment is different.
But this balance is very important, because it determines the correctness of our incarnation and our spiritual evolution thanks to our experience in matter. This right relationship with matter is as follows: getting involved in it while freeing yourself from it. When the being renounces its empirical relationships with things and beings, when it takes a step back from its objective reality: only then can it discern God as being the only source of its experiences. He can also discern his interiority as his only source of his experiences. He then arises in his spiritual consciousness. If moments of pleasure have not allowed him this change in relationship to his reality and to himself, a crisis will force him to take this step. This step back that he achieves puts him at a distance from the material world, but at the same time brings him closer to the spiritual world. The being can feel divine grace when he recognizes the creative laws at work and can then cooperate with them.
