A confinement is what blocks, prevents, or restricts the movements of an individual or group. This purely materialist approach can be extended to psychological and spiritual aspects. In this case, confinements are elements that block the full freedom of beings. That means who they are in their psychic and spiritual realities.
Immersed in incarnation and its illusory and temporal corollaries, the majority of beings do not have access to self-knowledge, therefore cannot perceive the deep nature of their confinements. And what prevents them from contacting who they are on a psychic and spiritual level. To completely ignore the imprisonments of their psyches and minds is to ignore one’s own prisoner state.
The first step to liberation is to begin a path of self-knowledge. By beginning to see glimmers of one’s true being, a gap is created between external reality and internal truth. From this discrepancy arises the awareness of one’s confinement.
